OUR STORY

I’ve coined that phrase reflecting back on the unforgiving sequence of events during which
the bedding idea was born. Freshly out of my broken marriage, I was full of positivity that
the world was going to be my oyster. But as they say ‘Man plans, and God laughs’.

As soon
as I walked out of the marital home, I walked onto a chemotherapy ward. I had a very
unexpected cancer diagnosis.

Instead of partying the night away I spent
more time in bed than anywhere else. My bedroom was my oyster, and
my bed - the pearl, if you like - at the very centre of it.

During that
time, instead of dressing myself for the ‘occasion’, I was dressing
the bed. By occasion I mean it was very dependent on how I was
feeling; sometimes I just wanted a snug, relaxed haven to recuperate,
other times, when feeling more upbeat, something funky and vibrant
when my friends were visiting.

Except, I struggled to find bedding
that was a sufficient style statement to reflect my love of fashion and
design. But equally importantly, I couldn’t find anything vibrant that
wasn’t a synthetic fabric mix. For me, soft, breathable cotton was,
and still is, a must.

My time spent in bed inspired me to view bed sheets as more than simply
bedding covers. Instead of worrying about my prognosis, I formulated ideas for what was to
become the Promiscuous brand.

It sounds weird to say it, but I am now glad of the cancer
that didn’t kill me. My bed was central to my recovery and fulfilling a dream. And dare I say
it…bed is where your dreams happen - whatever they may be.
